Cloud Protection: How to Avoid Emergency-Related Outages

Image courtesy of Aduldej / FreeDigitalPhotos.netHow do we know when a hurricane, twister, tornado, flood or an outage will occur? We don’t, all we can do is hope companies have prepared their data centers for safety and security during horrific weather conditions. It’s hard to believe that with the technology that we have today, data centers can be wiped out with a single hit, as it did with Hurricane Sandy. There are several ways to minimize this from happening:

1. Identify a compliant cloud service provider

2. Configure remote mirrored virtual machines

3. Setup the failover to be more than just DNS

4. Perform regular failover tests.

By having a back-up plan you can eliminate the chance for an outage happening in the event of a disaster.
