Partnership of VMware and Juniper Bridges Network Gaps

VMware and Juniper Networks have expanded the partnership they began last year to include greater collaboration between their products for clients who use both. The result should translate to better performance and easier management across both networks.

Operating physical and virtual networks presents a set of challenges in itself. Many applications rely on seamless integration between virtual and physical networks, and the staff that manages the networks must be able to efficiently access and use all the data.

The collaboration slated to expand is the one that pairs Juniper’s software-defined networking product with VMware’s network virtualization platform NSX. VMware’s networking services provide greater power and versatility to physical data centers, while Juniper’s SDN acts as something of a multilingual solution to communicate across various platforms.

Engineers co-build a greater solution

The motivation for the VMware and Juniper collaboration stems from the need to solve certain problems in the network virtualization model. While NSX produces an impressive cloud-based network solution, businesses still need answers for network management integration and data sharing with physical networks.

By partnering with Juniper, VMware intends to provide customers with improvements in three key areas:

  • A unified experience managing virtual and physical networks. With integrated tools from VMware and Juniper, organizations can increase their work efficiency while accessing data from either network. This includes tools for automated load balancing, advanced threshold detection, and trend analysis.
  • Smoother quality of service through shared telemetry and analytics. Collaboration between virtual and physical networks provides the opportunity to analyze and predict data usage. This way, errors are corrected automatically and workloads move through the system more consistently and with priorities ensured.
  • Integrated technologies with advanced routers and switches. When upgrading or integrating platforms, NSX applications and data can use Jupiter’s infrastructure as a gateway to optimize performance for everything involved. This means easier migration and better performance from current infrastructure while using these networks.

Ultimately, this partnership promises to help IT teams operate more efficiently thanks to a streamlined process and a better system of networks that leverages existing infrastructure with improved data communication.
